Bluebird Baby

Yesterday, in the middle of our cook out, Sam found a baby bluebird that had fallen from the nest. Everyone was so concerned about how to keep it safe, and to help it to thrive.

Just by chance, my nephew stopped over, and saw our concern, then he told us that he found a baby bird that fallen from the nest, and it was covered with ants. He brushed all of the ants off of it, dropped a few drops of water in it's mouth, then he put it in a cardboard box on his front porch. Some time later, he saw the mother coming to the box to feed its baby. After two days, it was gone. Since it was a very big box, the only way it got out was to fly out.

We decided to try the same thing, but we just had a small box. The baby got out and we couldn't find her. This morning, I heard her crying on the side of my house, but I didn't have time to search.

When I got home from work, Sam was in the back yard watching the baby. Just then the mom swooped down and kicked squirrel ass to get it away from the baby. We were so freakin' happy that the mom was aware of where her baby was, and was protecting it.

The mom flew off. Then two bluebirds swooped down again. The larger one stood guard on a bench, and the female fed the baby. She FED it. OhMyGod. We were so so happy. Maybe the baby will survive with its two excellent parents standing guard over it.

If only all parents were that diligent.
