good-lace's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hurricane Ivan This is the strange thing about waiting for a hurricane to kick your ass - You sit here and pray to the heavens that the storm doesn't hit you, but at the same time, you don't want it to mess up anyone else either. It kind of reminds me of the thoughts I have everytime I hear, or see, anyone say "God bless America," when they're talking about the Iraq war. Everytime I think what if God wants to bless Iraq too? Same principal here - God bless me and you too. It has taken hours to put away all the plants, benches and statues in my garden. We still have to dismantle the gazebo. Most of the gas stations are running out of gas. Sam got gas at 3:30 this morning. I still have to get cash from the bank because we've been warned that people in Florida couldn't get cash for over in a week in some places. All of the grocery stores are out of the staples we need like bread, peanut butter, tuna, canned fruit, crackers, etc. All those things that doesn't need refridgeration. If we get standing water for any amount of time, it'll be starvation time. Not a battery can be found for portable radios and flashlights. Sam will probably work through the storm to make big-time overtime. I'll probably go find some family that hasn't high-tailed it out of here. I'm not in the mood to drive north to Arkansas, or something. No hotel rooms are available in northern Louisiana. And, they're booked up all the way past Houston, Texas. Hurricanes just plain suck ass, but I guess it's the price we pay for having fairly nice whether year round. As of this moment, they don't think we're getting a direct hit from Ivan, but we will get some of it. Now we just wait to see if it punches us in the mouth, or kicks us in the shins.
